About

In 2004 I graduated from the Free University of Amsterdam with a MA in philosophy (cum laude). From 2005 until 2009 I wrote my PhD thesis 'Mind in Practice' (cum laude) at the University of Leiden. In 2007, I earned a MSc in cognitive neuropsychology (cum laude), also at the University of Leiden. Currently I work as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Bochum.

My main research interests are:
* philosophy of mind (social cognition, folk psychology, intentionality, belief-desire psychology, embodied cognition, mental causation)
* philosophical anthropology (cross-cultural differences in folk psychological vocabularies, behavior explanation, theory of mind development, and neural correlates of social cognition).
* philosophical psychology (theory of mind, false belief understanding, shared attention, imitation)
* other topics of interest: free will, moral psychology, executive functioning, psychopathology (ASD, schizophrenia)

I'm currently involved in two interdisciplinary projects: 'Other Minds: Neurophilosophy and Neuroethics of Intersubjectivity' and 'The Social Mind: Self, Other and Interaction in Cultural Context'.

I am co-organizer of the Dutch Interdisciplinary Expert Meetings Philosophy and Psychiatry. For more information see:
